For the Paper Jam Comics Collective’s 20th Anthology, Mythology and That, myself and Brittany Coxon wanted to make a comic about the Hexham Heads.
It was proving something of a struggle since we were trying to tell the reasonably authentic story of the history which Britt had extensively researched and provides links to many sources on BrittHub.
While there were amusing ways to do this given some of the ideas and characters involved (I urge you to watch this Lost BBC Footage), in the end it wasn’t working for us so we decided to basically riff on Evan Dorkin’s most excellent Milk and Cheese and portray the heads as unknowable but cynical and utterly impatient, forces of nature.
Anyway, here (with apologies for the lack of polish, we were rushing a bit and sacking off Adobe and moving to the Affinity Suite means I’m having to re-learn the doing of digital comics drawin’ for its many charms, Affinity Photo is lacking in some of the niceties that allow for precise drawing, possibly I should have gone for Affinity Designer, but in the end there’s a naivety to it that feels right).
Sorry not sorry.
